The Seaport World Trade Center was alive and bustling as the Boston Flower and Garden Show kicked spring off early! There were about twenty full garden displays, hundreds of vendors, floral design competitions, as well as lectures and demonstrations from the industries top professionals. The theme of this years show was "First Impressions - adding the wow factor to outdoor spaces". Many of the displays did "wow" us. There was everything from flowing waterfalls to sculpted stones, and even live birds! This year we decided to participate in the Florists Invitational. We were given a Styrofoam head, some guidelines, and the rest was left to us....to create a hat to wow the audience. We pictured a garden party in Jamaica when creating our hat, and wanted it to stand out among the crowd! We had so much fun creating the hat, and built it "ready to wear", as you never know when a runway show may appear!
Twelve professional florists participated in the hat show! We all
started with the same base, and it was fascinating
to see the different end results! Lots of creativity going on with
